There were twelve stones for the twelve tribes of Israel; on every one the name of one of the tribes of Israel was cut, like the cutting of a stamp.

And these twelve stones were engraved with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel, each one with a single name.

Porro lapides illi juxta nomina filiorum Israel erant, duodecim, juxta nomina eorum, sculpturae sigilli, quilibet juxta nomen suum, secundum duodecim tribus.

And the stones [were] according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, (d) according to their names, [like] the engravings of a signet, every one with his name, according to the twelve tribes.
